This is a unique mod to be listed here in that it isn't a "hardcore" player or immersion mod like the others. However, it is too great not to mention. Ironwood Homestead is a practical guildhall/player home which is the perfect solution for housing all your followers making it easy to swap them out depending on your quest.
Announcement: Be sure to check out Jokerine's website (also created by GhostAgent) by clicking here. (To experience the site properly, please pause any current music playing if you wish to visit.)
This mod in particular was created to be used alongside both Frostfall and Realistic Nights. It adds abandoned (small) hideouts and little caves around the whole of Skyrim. So as the cold sets in and the darkness falls, you may be lucky enough to be near one these new hideouts and take refuge within it.
With this mod, unique little hideouts are placed in the major cities which adds a fun and immersive way for any thieves, brigands, or other no-gooders to seek refuge while in town. Not to mention that the little hideouts come in handy for half starved wanderers freezing to death without enough coin to stat at an in. Like the above mod, this is a perfect companion for those starting a new game using mods listed in our "needs" section.
This mod is like the Hidden Hideouts of Skyrim City Edition, but for vampires. This will add a hideout in each major city for vampires to seek shelter and to relax without worry of the population drving a stake through their heart. Each hideout has "cattle" (we're not talking the "moo" kind) to nuture oneself, as well as a caretaker which can sell some common good. It also is very lore friendly and blends in with Dawnguard.
After some searching, we have found another mod author who knows how to make a good guild-style home. This guild-hall is a bit smaller than Ironwood Homestead, but it will suffice for any Robin Hoods or other forest lovers out there.
Another wonderful home mod by Jokerine. This one is not a guild-style home, but rather a bandit camp. This mod comes complete with fellow bandits ready to follow and is suitable for any players that prefer to live outside the law. It may be unfair to list another one of her mods here since she has her own website, but who cares--this is a deserving mod.
A wonderous outside fort for the rogue leader. This fort accomdates a small army of followers and has all the necessities. It allows one to role-play as a rogue, foresworn, or thief leader or even as an army of hireable heroes. Something that made this mod stand out to us (at the SoT team) was due to the beds being outside, random / sleeping encounters from our SoT mod would add an element of danger. It in effect simulates a raid taking place, or a sneak attack at night! (Good times indeed.)
NOTICE: This fort is a freeby, there is no quest required to obtain it.
Alright all ye' pirates and sea lovers! This mod goes above and beyond the typcial Skyrim abode and can really only be classified as art. The mod is just simply stunning and fits in so well for the pirate role-player. The ship can be upgraded and even a crew can be hired. It is expensive and well worth it! It is by far one of the most unique homes available in the modding communtiy.
An awesome castle worthy of praise. It is another one that is great for housing your team. It has all the necessities and something we liked was that it requires a quest to complete in order to obtain. However, for those panzies out there, it is easy to simply skip the quest and claim the castle. (That way every type of player is happy!) Lastly, ever want to experience a castle siege? Ever want to defend your hero's base against a sworm of bad guys trying to take over? Well now you can! This mod simulates raids that occur on que--a nice touch indeed.
Oh what a joy this one is--albeit there is a slight bug (see the notice below). This castle is only worthy of a true noble! It is absolutely beautiful. Skyrimlazz (Lazz) has quickly become one of our favorite castle designers. His particular attention to detail is mezmorizing. When you walk into one of his castles, you feel like you are truly entering an old medieval home fit for a king. (And in this case, you are the king. So welcome home.) This particular castle seems to fit better for a good / neutral player, rather than an evil one. However, a vampire could make a happy home out of it.
NOTICE: If you are using Enhanced Lights and FX, you'll need to remove, or hide the following file in order for the castle stairs (leading up to the throne) to work properly: data/meshes/architecture/sovengarde/sovngardinterior and delete the file sovintstairsfree02.nif. (If you don't remove this file, you sink through the stairs. This issue almost caused the castle to not be included on this list, but we figured since we located the source of the issue, we could simply share the solution with you and you would be thankful and therefore worthy of this wonderful mod.)
Well, this one is a personal favorite of ours. This castle has all the detail and necessities added in with the skyrimlazz flair, but this special little castle appeals to the darker role-players. Of course it works for anyone, but we feel that a darker, more evil player was in mind when the author created this castle. It even comes with its very own underground lair complete with blood pool! How cool is that? It also is unique in that it features some really cool atmospheric bed rooms for your favorite followers. (We especially liked that feature.) For example, an evil glowing red room that comes with a coffin for a special vampire to sleep in, an eerie green colored room for a spriggan maybe, and a blue room to rest a very powerful wizard. (Those are just our suggestions.) If you play an evil character, this is a perfect base for your army of undead and all manner of creatures that go bump in the night.
Do you like water? Then we found the right castle for you! This wonderful bastion of goodness is ultimately for the good guys out there. When we played through it, it seemed to us that an elf would particular like this castle. Of course, as with the majority of bases on this list, this comes with all the required necessities--such as someone who sells food and plenty of rest area for a fairly large army. If you are a "goody goody" then this castle is for you!
